About the project
Educational Connection (Conexão Educativa) was a comprehensive digital education initiative launched by Nova Escola with support from Google.org in response to the COVID-19 pandemic's disruption of traditional teaching in 2020.
The project aimed to bridge the sudden disconnection between teachers and students by providing educators with the tools, training, and resources needed to effectively transition to remote teaching. Over an eight-week period, the initiative delivered:
Eight training webinars to help educators adapt to digital teaching methods
Eight digital "boxes" from Nova Escola Box containing inspirational teaching resources
Six thousand lesson plans specifically adapted for remote teaching and aligned with Brazil's national curriculum (BNCC)
The communication strategy focused on creating networks of connection through 100% digital campaigns, influencer partnerships, and fostering online communities for educators to share experiences and support one another.
The results were remarkable, with more than 880,000 educators and 15 million public education students positively impacted across Brazil. The webinars attracted over 195,000 unique users, the digital resources were utilized by more than 62,000 people, and online support communities formed with over 31,000 participants.
Rather than positioning remote teaching as a temporary replacement, Educational Connection emphasized integrating digital and pedagogical approaches to create new learning possibilities for the future of education in Brazil.
My contribution
As the head of all video content for the 'Conexão Educativa' project at Nova Escola Online, I played a central role in our pandemic response strategy. I co-hosted and supervised weekly live streams, developed comprehensive production scripts, and managed all aspects of video production. Working closely with marketing and social media teams, I contributed to content distribution strategies that effectively reached our target audience across multiple platforms, including YouTube and Instagram. I created original content formats specifically designed for different video channels. Under my leadership, our video content reached over 3 million unique users monthly during the second half of 2020, establishing new benchmarks for educational content delivery during a critical time for remote learning.
