About me

I'm a journalist with over 13 years of experience covering education, policy, and social issues. I started in 2012 at Nova Escola, one of the largest education magazines in Latin America, where I worked as a reporter and editor covering federal policy, culture wars, and the daily life of public schools. Along the way, I got my hands on pretty much every format — podcasts, video, multimedia packages, lesson plans — and led teams producing large-scale digital projects.

In 2023, I moved to New York for a master's degree at Columbia Journalism School, where I learned to navigate U.S. bureaucracy, file FOIA requests, and work with government databases. After graduating, I was a fellow at Chalkbeat's national desk, where I published stories on topics ranging from student privacy and AI to how families of transgender students were preparing for a new political era.

I'm the first in my family to graduate high school and attend university, which is probably why I can't stop writing about education — though I've learned I can't stop asking questions about almost anything else, either.
